How do you train a workforce that approaches all business like an owner? We are currently working on two programs that we hope to roll out in the near future.

The LEAD Program is the brainchild of Felicia Jones, founder of Caring Heart Thrift Store. Caring Heart serves almost 200 local teens through its Teen Pantry program, which provides basic hygiene supplies, food, and tutoring to local middle and high school students.

Felicia realized that the needs of local teens went deeper than just the basic necessities. She wanted them to also have access to good careers and the skills needed to be successful in the workforce. In collaboration with the SMCEC and Lamplight, the LEAD program will build an ownership mindset with local teens by putting them in charge of their own internship program. By leading the program themselves, they will develop an ownership mindset and skillset that they can translate to wherever they work.

We are looking into offering free trainings for adults looking to enter the workforce who are wanting to develop marketable skills. Using the same ownership approach as our other programs, we hope to develop the skillset and mindset of the entire local workforce.
