How To Get People To Show Up At Your Event

You’ve got a great idea for a class or event at the folk school. Now, who’s going to come?

Come to this training with an event and leave with a plan to fill it.

This workshop is for anyone who wants people to show up at an event at the folk school. You’ll learn to work backward from the turnout you want: decide who you want in the room, then build the invitations, messages, and timeline that get them there.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Decide who your event is for and what turnout would count as a success

  • Find where those people already are and the best way to reach them, from a personal invitation to a flyer

  • Write an invitation that makes clear what it is, when and where it’s happening, and why someone would want to come

  • Build a timeline of announcements and reminders so you’re not scrambling the week of

  • Track RSVPs and know whether your outreach actually worked

This session is highly recommended for anyone interested in putting on an event and open to anyone, though to actually put on the event you need to be a member of the folk school.

You’ll leave with an outreach plan for your event (audience, message, channels, and a week-by-week timeline), a drafted invitation, and a repeatable process you can use for every event you run.

Who it’s for: Current or aspiring event owners. No marketing experience needed. If you can invite a friend to something you’re excited about, you’re in the right place.

Drinks and light refreshments will be provided.
